Local Heritage List

The Merseyside Local Heritage List launched in March 2022, covering Knowsley, Sefton and Wirral borough councils with support from MEAS.

Local Heritage Lists are a record of buildings and built structures that do not meet the criteria for statutory designation (Listing, Scheduling, etc.) but which have been identified and assessed as having a degree of significance and value to the local community. Once adopted on the list, assets will be treated as Non-Designated Heritage Assets (NDHA) and must be considered in planning applications that may have an impact on them.

All assets on the Local Heritage List will be added to the Merseyside Historic Environment Record (HER) managed by MEAS.  The online database for the historic environment can also be accessed when researching the history of the asset and providing supporting information. Heritage Gateway

Members of the public are encouraged to identify and nominate buildings and built structures for inclusion on the list and should do this by registering for free on the dedicated website.
